MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 11767 bale aangebied, waarvan 95.8% verkoop is.

Die koper was Standard Wool SA. Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

Compared to the rate of the previous sale, the Rand traded 3.7% stronger against the US Dollar and 2.8% stronger to the Euro. The largest increase this week, of 14.4%, was in the 22.5 micron segment. G.Modiano SA was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by Lempriere SA, Tianyu SA en Standard Wool SA. A total of 11 767 bales were on offer, of which 95.8% was sold.

On the OVK auction 3 005 bales were offered, of which 94.0% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R155.00/kg, was achieved for a 2 bale lot CH of 16.2 microns, from the clip of the Bibbey Farming, Frankfort. The buyer was Standard Wool SA. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

The strengthening of the Rand against the most important currencies played a big role in this week's weakening of the wool market. The renewed outbreaks of Covid-19 in Europe are resulting in a very unstable market in both South-Africa and Australia. The result of the recent presidential elections in the USA might have a positive influence on trade relations between the USA and China in the near future though, which could result in favour of the wool market in the short to medium term. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 1.0% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, was in high demand on the auction and enjoyed healthy competition amongst the buyers. Producers have to take note of this and also accept that this is a future trend which has come to stay. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process. The next wool auction is scheduled for 18 November 2020.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information.
